GVRC Adds Camper Hall of Fame in Honor of Michelle Oulton

The Board of Directors of Genesee Valley Rotary Camp had their annual dinner and celebration at Camp last night. Before the Board gathering, the Officers of the Board attended a very special ceremony – the induction of the inaugural class of the Michelle Oulton GVRC Camper Hall of Fame.

This award honors Michelle Oulton, a GVRC Camper who has lived her life through fierce self-advocacy, perseverance, determination and community service. The award is given to GVRC campers who have distinguished themselves with their own perseverance, determination and advocacy. Our Hall of Fame inductees are living proof of GVRC’s motto, “Everyone Has Potential,” and have shown how strength in the face of adversity can inspire a life of service to others.

The 2025 Inductees

Michelle Oulton: Michelle’s life story is inspirational, and each summer for over 30 years since she “graduated” from GVRC, she came back to Camp Sam Wood to read to new campers. The GVRC Camper Hall of Fame is named in her honor.

Brady Dean: Brady was a camper from 1993-2005 and joined GVRC’s staff in 2007. Inspired by his time at Camp, Brady founded Everyone Can Move, with the mission of providing opportunities for physical education to everyone.

Don Hooker: Don was a camper from 1973-1981. He’s gone on to own two businesses in Nunda, NY.

Scott Kamakaris: Scott was a camper from 1983-1995 and has served on the staff since 1997. Scott is a Geneseo Rotarian and, each year, organizes a bottle and can drive which has raised thousands of dollars for GVRC.

Tom Moran: Tom was a camper from 1989-1997, when he joined the staff, serving until 2003. Tom is on the faculty of the Department of Kinesiology at James Madison University. He delivered a very inspiring message to the campers about the power of GVRC.

Maryann (Stopha) Reissig: Maryann was a camper from 1980-1988, after which she joined the staff. Maryann is a software engineer at Wegmans and runs GVRC’s website and social media. She is also the mother of Maggie, who was Avon Rotary’s outbound exchange student last year and who joined the GVRC staff as a rookie counselor this year.

Congratulations to the inductees!
